Mathematics of growth!

HYPOTONIC AND HYPERTONIC! Keep forgetting!

If a microorganism is placed in a hypotonic solution ( one with a lower osomotic concentration), water will enter the cell and cause it to burst!

If a microrganism is placed in a hypertonic solution ( one with higher osmotic concentration), water will flow out the cell. (plasmolysis)

Many microogranism, wheather in hypotonic or hypertonic environments, keep the osomotic concentration of their cytoplasm somewhat above that of the habitat so that the plasma memebrne is always pressed firmly against the cell wall.

Extreme halophiles have adapted so completely to hypertonic, saline conditions, that they require high levels of sodium chloride to grow.

How mountain and volcano form?

Famous mountain like mount Everest in the Himalayas, is form with by continental- continental convergence.

Do you know that Japan, Phillipine and Hawaii are Volcano island?
They are form intially through oceanic-oceanic convergence. The volano started buliding up in the ocean and gradually, the drived lava emerge from the ocean and become a island.
They are also form in oceanic-continental covergence, through the subduction of the oceanic crust, follow by the rise of the magma to the continental crust and form mountain.

Japan also has the highest earthquake, poor Japan =( This is because it is situated at the center of the boundaries of different plate ( Eurasian, philipine, pacific plates), with them pushing against each other.
